Citadele Bank Offers Clients a Chance to Receive New or Supplementary Payment Cards by Mail in Latvia

Published on

Always thinking about the convenience of its client’s daily banking, the Citadele Bank is offering clients a new opportunity – receiving a Citadele payment card by mail anywhere in Latvia.

The new service is free of charge and applies to new or supplementary payment cards without a credit limit. Clients who apply for a new or supplementary card at a Citadele Client Service Centre will accordingly be able to choose to receive it by mail. That means that the client will receive the card at his or her address and will not have to visit the bank again to receive the card. The system will apply to Maestro, VISA, MasterCard and American Express cards.

“We are the first bank in Latvia to offer the free delivery of new cards by mail as an ongoing service,” says Citadele board member Kaspars Cikmačs. “We’re working to make sure that Citadele services are more and more convenient for our clients, and the development of distance services is one of the most important elements in this process. We believe that the delivery of cards by mail will be of interest to busy people in Riga, as well as to people in the countryside who will not have to go to a city to receive their cards.”

Cikmačs adds “we have given particular thought to the financial security of our clients in providing this service. We looked at the experience of banks in other countries which offer such services in developing our own offer.”

The cards will be delivered via two separate letters. The first will contain the client’s PIN code, and the second will contain the card. The card that is sent by mail will not be active, and only the true addressee will be able to activate it by ringing the Citadele Client Support Centre. The card and PIN code will be sent in specially designed envelopes, which will allow the client to see whether the envelope has been opened before it is delivered.

The Citadele Bank plans to develop the service further so that by the end of the year, clients can also apply for it via the Citadele Internet banking system. That means that clients will not have to visit the bank at all to apply for and receive a new payment card.
