Changes in the use of password code cards in 2016

Published on

Dear Clients,

According to the decision of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, additional security requirements will apply to e-payments from 1 April 2016. Based on the requirements, the clients will be able to continue using the password code cards, but in some cases an additional authorization will be required. New clients of the banks will be subject to additional security requirements as of 1 January 2016.

What should existing bank clients know?

If you are a client of Citadele Bank, additional security requirements for e-payments will apply from 1 April next year. Until then, please make sure that the bank has your valid contact information. You can check and correct your contact information by logging in to Citadele e-banking system and clicking Settings or by calling a toll-free phone 8 800 72 739.

If you choose to continue using the password code card from 1 April 2016, additional means of security will automatically be applied: you will receive a code by SMS and will have to enter it when logging in the e-banking system. You do not have to do anything – the additional security means will be applied automatically.

We can also offer the alternative mean for logging in the e-banking system: a password generator, which can already be used now.

What should new bank clients know?

If you become a client of Citadele Bank next year, you will be issued a regular password code card with a EUR 30 limit per transaction in the e-banking system. There will be no limit for the amount of transactions per day.

In the beginning of 2016, the bank will introduce an additional means of security: when logging in the Citadele e-banking system, you will receive a code by SMS and will have to enter in when logging in. You do not have to do anything – the additional security means will be applied automatically.

Please remember that you can already log in the e-banking system by using a password generator.

IMPORTANT: keep your personal data safe

Please note that the bank will not call its clients and will not ask to give telephone numbers or other personal data. If you receive such call, please do not give any personal data – most likely, it is a fraud.

If you have any questions, please call a toll-free telephone 8 800 72 739. If you are calling from abroad, the consultations are available by calling +370 5 266 4600.
