Citadele Bank

Citadele to issue new VISA credit cards as of December 1

Published on

Citadele Bank has decided to align its strategy with the VISA brand and will issue new VISA credit cards, combining a broad acceptance network and best-in-class loyalty program, as of December 1 this year.

Visa cards issued by Citadele will offer clients a highly appealing rewards program – discounts and exclusive offerings with retailers, a loyalty point system, travel insurance for the whole family, and purchase protection. Clients will be able to use their card with every shop or service provider that has a POS terminal, as well as on the Internet - enabled by the breadth of VISA network. Among new offers, there will be new insurance coverage that will appeal to clients who enjoy travelling and shopping in particular.

The new credit cards issued in the VISA brand will gradually replace the American Express cards issued by Citadele in Latvia and Lithuania under the current license agreement.

Citadele will start issuing new upgraded VISA credit cards in Latvia from the 1st of December and will continue developing the product offering throughout 2017. In Lithuania, it will start issuing VISA cards in spring 2017. From the 1st of December, Citadele will stop issuing American Express cards to new clients in Latvia and Lithuania. It will continue to serve existing customers until March 31, 2018. These clients will be given a timely opportunity to replace their current cards with one of the new cards: VISA Classic, Gold and Platinum, and transfer balances from their current card to the new card while maintaining their existing credit limit. Citadele clients with VISA Platinum will be served by private banking service, will also be offered a Concierge service.
